First ‘Yahoo! and eBay’ now ‘Dell and Google’ let the lovefest begin

by Roger Kondrat on May 26, 2006

Wow big day for the customer today. We lost some competition with Yahoo! and eBay partnering (possibly) but the day definitely ended with a bang when Google announced its partnership with Dell bringing choice back to the desktop. The partnership requires Dell to begin shipping PCs with Google software pre-installed and set as default. For this Dell likely gets a portion of the search revenue generated from Google but also a co-branded site.

I know Google is growing in might and could one day rival Microsoft but win or lose I just like having a choice again.

“Google and Dell have agreed to a first in a series of deals to preinstall Web and desktop search software on the PC maker’s computers, Google CEO Eric Schmidt said Thursday.”
