This site is not new but it provides a valuable service that I think is worth mentioning again. Portable Apps.
What Is A Portable App? portable - carried or moved with ease app - a computer program like a web browser, <Outlook email>, or word processor.
A portable app is a computer program that you can carry around with you on a portable device and use on any Windows computer. When your USB flash drive, portable hard drive, iPod or other portable device is plugged in, you have access to your software and personal data just as you would on your own PC. And when you unplug, none of your personal data is left behind.Learn more about portable apps…

Portable applications are the du jour of today’s modern worker. If you wish you could keep all your email in the same location (Outlook) whether your at home, office, or on the move then this site has the simple non-engineer tools to help you.
The software works from any digital media e.g. SD card, iPods, MP3 players, Flash, USB Drives, etc. I personally used Sunbird, Firefox, and Thunderbird but because I use hosted web services now e.g. GCal, Gmail for my domain, and Blinklist/Del.icio.us for my bookmarks there is no reason for me to keep them portable. Now I only use Sage which is an RSS Reader because I prefer desktop RSS readers instead of web service RSS readers.
If that is the case for you, I would still recommend you taking a look as there are plenty of other apps available OpenOffice, NVU (WYSIWYG), FileZilla, and GIMP (Image manipulation program similiar to Photoshop but free).
