Bloglines a world class content portal in the making?

by Roger Kondrat on June 3, 2006

Bloglines parent company ASK.com has added a new feature that was promised last year to their list of features, search. I have to say I am pretty chuffed with the search it offers great results, easy bookmarking, and posting options. See below for comprehensive list:

  • World-Class Results: The result of mixing ExpertRank and Bloglines data.
  • Three Flavours of Relevance: Search by Date, Popularity, or Relevance (a combination of the first two)
  • Three Sorting Options: Sort by Posts, Feeds or News
  • Unique Tools: Including Binoculars to preview the last 5 posts from a feed
  • Open Subscription Options: Subscribe to a feed in Bloglines, Google Reader, MyYahoo, or Newsgator
  • Open Posting Options: Post a link to Bloglines, Del.icio.us, Newsvine or Digg

Also worth mentioning is that Ask.com has integrated their page rank system into their blog search feature. Hopefully this will help us small guys squeeze in between the line of titanic bloggers e.g. Scoble, Michael, Kotte, etc.

I wonder what features Bloglines/Ask.com will develop for the future, as it does seem like they are heading down the road of a portal product. I would like to see a mashup to integrate bookmark services and expand their blogging tool, now that would be great.
