Watch out Amazon, eBay is a looking to your market for its future growth

by Roger Kondrat on June 21, 2006

Ebay has just launched a fixed-price service. This isn’t so much a new feature technology-wise as a marketing event because Ebay has had ‘want it now‘ ‘buy now‘ options for a while, but this is the first time they have focused on promotion away from their core auction service.

It should be interesting to see what happens with this new focus on fixed pricing, as Amazon has been noted for its similar interest in auctions and they could be prodded into trying auctions - at the very least to protect themselves from Ebay eroding their business. This of course assumes both find success in the others backyard.
