Well yesterday I went to a networking event and met Roy Sandler a big shot over from Sandler Seating and he was telling me a story about an order he had taken a few years ago over the phone from a young lady in Hollywood for a few hundred thousand dollars worth of furniture. What!!?
Roy was obviously a little shocked. He looked over at his co-workers with suspicion as obviously this was a joke and he was unwilling to be taken in by it. No way was Roy going to look silly.
Eventually Roy was taken in by the smooth talking lady from Hollywood and took her order seriously and thank goodness for that because as it turns out due to security concerns over filming of ‘The Terminal’ in an actual airport (JFK I believe) they had to build a ‘fake’ airport in the desert and Sandler Seating was the company that supplied all their seats e.g. benches, cafe seating, etc.
Anyway its not WOW but it was fun to listen to as he is a good story teller. I find often everyone has a universally cool story or two but most of us (me included) are horrible story tellers, so it was nice to just listen and take in the excitement he must have felt once all the details were realised.
Needless to say the night went well and everyone had a great time.
Cheers Roy for the good story and getting us all together.
