Do you know how blogging software started out?
Long ago when I was reading up on blogging and social media (years ago), I recall that Dave Winer was the originating influencer as he had built the first web site that had the general features from which blogs were born.
Dave has and always will be known as an influencer and from what I hear an eccentric too, but he did give us the technology that started a social revolution on the web.
Anyway to my point, did you know that Dave developed this early software to help him manage his projects better? Yeah he did. Funny how the phenomenon of blogging is most associated with Diary writing and amateur journalist wannabe’s etc, but in reality it was developed for a specific business need project management.
So as with fashion, software often goes full circle and recently as in the last few months I have noticed more and more project management websites such as projects at work publishing information, suggestions and the virtues of using blogs to help manage projects.
Below is just one such article. I strongly suggest if you are a project manager or even just a plain old boring manager (I’m joking here) you consider the merits of blogging as a tool to help you communicate better with your team.
Most of all, if you are a convert to blogging then good on you for trying something new but remember in the business world blogs are not just for marketing people which is another common misconception.

Some do it as a marketing tool, some hope to improve the field by sharing good ideas, and still others admit they enjoy the validation and creativity of blogging. [more]
