Developing code to share with others?

Comments

Recently I had downloaded a plugin from a Wordpress blogger and he hosted his code on Google Code, and I thought hey great idea. Until Google Code came along part-time or hobby software developers had to use the less than user-friendly SourceForge, which is a great web service for developers but not that great for simple weekend projects where you and your user-base are not tech-savy.

Google Code is by and large pretty easy to use for both user and developer, its free like SourceForge and highly searchable. If you are doing small projects for yourself that don’t need all the complication of SourceForge I recommend taking some time to look into whether Google Code will suit your needs.

For me I just liked that I can search it and find code related to my interests in a way I am accustomed too, using Google Search.

Have you used it? What do you think of Google Code? What have you used it for?
