Today has been a busy day for the mobile and web services world. Zopa a ’social’ money lending site is launching its Japan offices. Briefly Zopa offers social lending, which means they allow individuals to loan and borrow using Zopa as their marketplace.  Zopa is essentially the eBay of the financial world.

Mashable Open Web Awards - Loic Le Meur

Seesmic founded by Loic LeMeur (picture below) a video service that allows you to use video to interact with people has just received its first Firefox plugin allowing users to embed parts of the service within the Firefox sidebar.  Pretty cool.  This is courtesy of Steve Purkiss, and you can check the plugin out.

Yahoo! also announced a major update (I feel) to their Map service which is good for two main reasons, 1) enough about the merger already and 2) an update was needed as the service was falling behind.

SDK

Apple’s iPhone has been out for just under a year now (about 9 months) in the US, and it hasn’t had anything software related built for it except for what Apple has installed as standard, you hacked the phone or you were content with just using web applications.

As of today that has all changed with the release of the iPhone SDK (Software Development Kit) today, soon there should be many software products that are officially supported for your iPhone.  Buying an iPhone is starting to make more sense too bad it isn’t 3G!
