doubleclickToday Europe’s regulators granted Google permission to finalise its purchase of DoubleClick over the anxious gaze of Microsoft, Yahoo and the privacy groups that yell every time Google does something with their data.

This was really the last hurdle really since the US had already granted it’s blessing in December (2007) last year.  With this Google will consume everything that was DoubleClick and over time consolidate and merge the two different but leading edge systems they now own.

Google’s offer of $3.1 Billion dollars (USD) for DoubleClick in comparison to Microsoft and Yahoo’s ‘me-too’ purchases was the best value and continues to reflect the agressive and progressive nature of Google’s business plan.  Google is constantly finding value where no one else is even looking.

What do you think of the purchase of DoubleClick? Also it is worth considering the question of did Microsoft sabatoge its own effort to contest Google’s purchase of DoubleClick by proposing the merger with Yahoo?
