Some news about TechWinter

Comments

We have been working on the site for a while (3 months) trying to decide what was the best platform MT or WP.  We tried MT for a little while (you may have noticed) and in the end we moved back to WP.  The feeling was that we could get more out of WP with less effort than with MT.  It seems from our research we are not alone in this opinion.

Additionally we wanted to make things a little better over all with the current WP experience so we started adding some important plugins.

We added a 404 Notifier, yes we should have had it before but we were scared of what it would tell us.  We were right to be worried and repairs are underway, although I would expect they will take some time.

Comment communities (provided by Disqus), an easier way to subscribe via email, a Lightbox plugin for those ‘beautifying’ pictures we will use more of in our posts,  Talkr, and Twitter.  There are more but we didn’t want to bore you with all of them, just the ones that stood out.

Lightbox as much as we delayed is really a fore-gone conclusion with everyone using that annoying ‘Snapshot’ program from Snap we felt we had to do something about our very boring “what you see is what you get” imagery, so we upgraded to Lightbox.

Talkr we discovered a long-time ago from RWW and we liked it but never got around to including it (we did now).  It will be at the bottom of each post.

We also have integrated Twitter into our processes and so whenever we publish from now on you can see a Tinyurl string in our Editors twitter.  If you want to subscribe there so you can read our articles right after they are published as some are already doing then by all means go for it.

Lastly we have finally found developers we are satisfied with and so within the next couple weeks we will be organising our final ’spec’ (wishlist) and finalising the project for a brand new TechWinter with a more modern and unique look.

If you have any suggestions and we do encourage them please email us at
