What is Disqus?

Disqus is a better comment system for your website and for those who comment on websites. Disqus is a tool that helps build larger and more dynamic communities around your comments like CoComment has been doing for the last two plus years. Many are calling companies like Disqus and CoComment the next generation of commenting - ‘Comment 2.0′.

About the Company:

Disqus (”discuss”) is new hosted webservice developed by startup Big Head Labs a two man operation based out of San Francisco, CA. Disqus was released in October 2007 as a public Beta, and has since their launch been integrated into over 4000 websites and has grown their ‘commenter’ membership to over 60,000.

They were initially funded by Y-Combinator and more recently (18th March 2008) received an additional $500,000 from Union Square Ventures. Incidentally one of Union Square Ventures big backers is a huge fan of Disqus and has used them on his site since last years public launch.
