by Roger Kondrat on March 28, 2008

Video traffic continues to grow at an enormous pace, it will be interesting to see how video impacts the web over the next two years between video and mobile technology it is going to be loads of fun!

UK Internet traffic to online video websites increased by 178% between February 2007 and 2008. A Hitwise custom category of the top 25 video websites in the UK accounted for 2.22% of all UK Internet visits in February 2008, equivalent for one in every 45 Internet visits last month.

Hitwise Intelligence - Robin Goad - UK: Online video traffic up 178% in a year

How do you see the Internet being impacted by the pace of Video growth? Do you think if video grows at this pace that Google could be threatened by an innovative search technology that was as good at video as Google is with text?

Ildeniz, Google has already embedded search in its YouTube and the technology is also getting used for contextual in AdSense for YouTue videos. so I dint understand wen you said “as good as Google with text” :)

Unless there is one technology/video search engine in stealth mode that you are pointing to ;) ?

Hi Santosh,

Actually this article was published by me but unfortunately it keeps defaulting when I publish as an admin to Ildeniz, not sure why. Apologies for the writer confusion.

I was not pointing to any one that I knew of as there are more than a few that are doing well such as Blinkx but regarding google search to the best of my knowledge Google search in videos is just based on tagging, ratings, and other indirect information, not the actual video content itself.

Am I wrong? Is google actually interpreting video content from within? How so is this by interpreting the words?
