News: Webjam and Yamaha Music partner to promote music!

by Roger Kondrat on April 8, 2008

webjam logoWebjam, a UK-based startup that helps its members build very flexible and dynamic local or global communities has partnered with Yamaha Music to develop local online communities throughout the UK. Yamaha hopes this will help foster more of a grassroots interest in music as usage amongst the younger generation is declining.

Also Webjam has started working with the CPS (Centre for Policy Studies) to develop a special Webjam that will leverage Webjams abundant community tools to create a truely open forum for discussion on public policy.

Both Yamaha Music and CPS take advantage of the little know Webjam Premium features. I had heard about them from Webjam CEO, Yann Motte but could never find the link until now.

Apparently the reason why the link is not made so obvious is because Yann and the other senior team members want to make sure they are staffed appropriately to handle a ‘premium’ level of support. Fine and good for you guys, I say because there is so little of that attitude in todays startup market.

Also I have to say with these new very promintent Webjam premium members one has to wonder what an official premium product would look like and what function it would serve. Is Webjam premium just an additional set of features that will be for paid membership only in the future or is it part of a larger plan.

Premium services - free, forever for any webjam premium application before May 15th 2008 (extended period - this is your very last chance)

Joining Webjam Premium gives you a more professional site with the support of our Premium community and team. It allows you to:

  • Use your own or remove ads
  • Use your own domain

Note: You must already have a Webjam username and a webjam to become a Premium member.

Knowing the Webjam team as I do they are a secretive bunch and who knows what they will do for sure but Yann is not a man that thinks small.

Is Webjam going to strike out at the business market? What do you think? If you use Webjam how do you like it?

Webjam is a brilliant resource. We chose to partner them because they are the best fit with our plans to grow a community of professionals working in music education (www.yamahaeducation.co.uk).

The facilities that webjam provides are incredibly flexible and allow us to present a range of additional online content to the 6500+ readers of our education magazine, YES, who will learn about the new facility, which is called Yamaha Education Friends, in the May issue of YES. The community welcomes music education professionals: teachers, musicians and composers in education, local music services, etc.

    Hi Bill

I know talking with Yann that the guys are really happy you chose them and they are keen to make your experience using Webjam the best.

Also I thought from a cultural and community perspective that it was good to see Yamaha doing something like this, we both know there are business reasons but that does not detract from the value this effort will add to local communities.

    Good luck with the effort!
