by Roger Kondrat on April 18, 2008

Truphone (announcement) raise $32 Million today is Series B Venture funding. It looks like while some startups are struggling to raise capital such as B5Media others have been more fortunate.

Truphone a UK-based mobile VoIP startup that offers mobile phone users one of the lowest cost and easy-to-use methods of calling contacts from anywhere in the world to anywhere in the world than anyone I have seen nearly.

Raising this round is a big win for Truphone and clearly states without words that there is growing confidence in their business, their ability to execute and their long-term strategy.

‘Voice 2.0…’ states James Tagg, CEO of Truphone. “We aim to provide ultimate price and convenience, wherever you are. One world, one SIM”.

With their recent purchase of SIM4Travel, Truphone look set to achieve this objective of creating a truly global mobile network that is easy to use, low-cost and advanced features.

With SIM4Travel Truphone now have a physical presence with a SIM card, client support staff and retail partners. Also they will have added more customers which is always a good box to check in business.

Truphone means cheap or free calls anywhere in the world!

Like GigaOm a popular blogger in the US comments, ‘Truphone has become indispensable to my work and personal life..’ and we over at TechWInter totally agree with GigaOm as we use it all the time to connect.

Do you use Truphone?
