Recently with my contract up at T-Mobile and with no mobile currently on available that I was interested in I left them and went Sim-only with O2 which by the way offered a better price than T-Mobiles contract pricing. Unbelievable but that is another story for another day.
So the question is what phone are you holding out for? Which one is the one you cannot wait to have?
Windows Mobile
I personally feel undecided, I hear good things in the media about some new Windows Mobiles that are coming out namely Sony Ericsson’s Xperia 1 for the second-half of 2008, which feels a long ways off and lets be honest lots can change between now and then.
Following up is Moto with the new Q9H. Looks good, not as good as the Sony Ericsson but good none-the-less. This new Moto has noise cancellation technology built in so it should make for a better listening experience.
HTC… Never again! Innovators technologically but their manufacturing quality e.g. fit and finish is TERRIBLE. Plus they usually look cheap and feel cheap… So the fact that they break and malfunction like they are cheap is really not surprising.. I would stay away from them altogether is my personal recommendation.
Honestly I have had bad experiences with past versions of Windows Mobile so I am thinking.. NOT..
Mac OSX (iPhone)
Then there is the emminently expected iPhone will it be good enough? For me if they improve the camera, the chipset to 3.5G and lower the price to where it is today, I will be willing to pay for it…. maybe.
Symbian
The highly anticipated N96 is coming out in a couple months. Could be a good mobile, but without the big keyboard (QWERTY) I am not keen. Keyboard is key for me, so not interested. That aside this is definitely a big refinement from the monstrosity of the N95 and a much over-due update.
Anything else happening in Symbian?
Blackberry
I must have a longing for this phone built into my DNA (I am Canadian) because no matter how much I choose not to buy it because it is missing this feature or that, I always WANT to have it. Weird I think to want something that you know will never live up to your expectations.
That being as it may be, the new Blackberry 9000 is expected to be amazing with possibly a touch interface and a major OS upgrade too. Hopefully they will include a better camera in their phones now that they have real competition from Apple’s iPhone. I look forward to seeing this phone.
Conclusion… No conclusion really, I am totally undecided and would love to hear your thoughts on which mobile you would love to have in your pocket and why. Please do not feel restricted by my list just fire away and if you can include a link to the article you read about it from so we can all check it out

I'm going for the N96 when it comes out. It looks like it will be a great phone, but I am too a little dissapointed about the lack of a qwerty keyboard.

Totally agree, but I also feel it is missing another big feature and that is a touch screen. If you do not have the QWERTY, you should at least have Touch Screen or you are not a leader…
