Mr. Scoble recently chastised himself on his main pulpit - Scobleizer.com.
He talked about how he and his fellow (I assume) A-Listers were leading readers and fellow bloggers away from their original purpose; to find the latest and greatest, make sense of it and communicate it to Joe Public.
Granted I am paraphrasing but generally that was what he said.
So I have a challenge for Mr Scoble!
A challenge that will leverage your strengths and minimise your weaknesses.
Weaknesses
Scoble you are what your friends are as I recently saw you write in FriendFeed. So your first problem is acknowledging you are the problem. Not what you say or your attitude but you. YOU ARE THE PROBLEM.
You are so popular that you will always be drowning in rather mature and common information, you cannot escape it.
Lots to lose.
Strenghts
You have so many readers and commentors, the silent legion are also an enormous resource if you can find a way to filter it.
You know great ideas when you let yourself listen or when the background noise drops a notch or two so new and interesting comes through.
You are not afraid of taking a risk, probably more so than your peers whom all followed you.
Solution
Take that wonderful blog of yours and allow one blogger every week to guest star. You stop blogging all together and focus on FF, Twitter, etc whatever means of researching and discussing you like, but no Scobleizer. Your singular goal should be finding the one great blogger every week that can bring something new and amazing to the world.
They can be from anywhere in the world, knowing you will do this, that they could have hundreds of thousands of readers will drive them to you like crazy but every week you will have 7 days to pick the next lucky winner.
There is one caveat to this project - Scobleizer Project 2.0 - and that is you must pick someone that is obscure. You cannot pick someone known, they must be new and fresh. A drop out, an MIT Ubergeek, a moscow sewer rat, a Chinese censor specialist, etc. They must be nobodies.
Their only unique known value is that you found them and they have amazing and ground breaking ideas.
Will you accept this proposal? Can you do it? Do you believe in what you did so much that you would throw it all away just to bring vitality back to the blogosphere?
I ask, is something radical like this exciting? Do you think the ideas could be ground breaking? Should Scoble take up this project?
To Scoble you once read my blog post on Jason Calacanis kicking A-Lister butt, will you drop by and evaluate this proposed project?
Personal Note to Mr Scoble
In all honesty if anyone was ever able to take on something like this it would be someone like you with a truly global brand and an audience that would be resilient during the project.
