Kia Unveils limited Stinger Tribute Edition

Kia America has announced that it will be ending production of its fastback sedan, the Stinger, after a successful six-year run. To commemorate the car’s legacy, Kia has revealed a limited-edition Stinger Tribute with just 440 units available in the US and 1,000 worldwide. The Stinger Tribute boasts unique upgrades that distinguish it from other Stingers, and existing Kia customers and those who have expressed interest in the car will be the first to know about its availability.

Steven Center, Kia America’s COO & EVP, stated that the Stinger has been a catalyst for the company’s advancements in engineering and driving dynamics. He also mentioned that the lessons learned from the Stinger have been applied to new products like the EV6 GT, which recently won the 2023 World Performance Car of the Year award.

The Stinger Tribute Limited Edition sedan is based on the 2023 Stinger GT2 and features a 3.3-liter turbocharged V-6 engine with optional all-wheel drive. The Stinger Tribute is available in Ascot Green or Steel Matte Gray and has black-accented details, including 19-inch alloy wheels, Brembo brake calipers, exhaust tips, and side mirrors. The interior has Terracotta Nappa leather-trimmed seats with a custom logo, a synthetic suede headliner, and simulated carbon fiber interior trim. Each Stinger Tribute Edition sedan has a numbered door sill plate.

The Stinger Tribute Limited Edition sedan is priced at $53,390 for the RWD version and $55,590 for the AWD version, not including a $1,175 destination fee. Eric Watson, Vice President of Sales at Kia America, stated that the company is giving its loyal customers and interested buyers the opportunity to own this ultra-exclusive Stinger Tribute Edition. By notifying them of the Stinger’s arrival first, the company anticipates this customer base will rush to dealerships to secure the last of the Stingers.

Kia has sold over 65,000 units of the Stinger since its launch in 2019, making it a successful model in the US market. The Stinger has been Kia’s gateway model to attract enthusiasts to the brand, with its performance and design being key features. However, Kia is not currently planning to replace the Stinger with another performance model. Instead, it is focusing on developing and expanding its EV lineup. Kia has a new electric crossover, the EV7, coming in 2022, and the automaker is planning to offer 11 EV models by 2026.

The Stinger has been a significant contributor to Kia’s advancements in engineering and driving dynamics, and the legacy of the model will continue through Kia’s current and forthcoming innovative products. While the Stinger’s production run may be ending, the company’s dedication to innovation and meeting the needs of its customers is unwavering.

The limited edition Stinger Tribute serves as a tribute to the Stinger’s legacy and a celebration of the model’s six-year production run. With only 440 units available in the US and 1,000 worldwide, the Stinger Tribute is a rare and ultra-exclusive model that is sure to attract enthusiasts and collectors.
