A world leader in the design of the small form factor computers, Shuttle announced its new SZ170R8 Cube PC that can store up to the four 3.5-inch hard drives despite its limited footprint.
The Shuttle SZ170R8 features support for the latest Intel Skylake LGA 1151 processors, with a TDP up to 95W and use the built-in GPU units that support 4k/Ultra HD video playback, up to 64 GB DDR4-2133, and up to four 3.5-inch HDDs. The Z170 motherboard also sports a full-size M.2 slot for PCIe, SATA or NVMe SSD storage. Additionally, the chassis can house up to one dual-slot graphics card in a PCIe 3.0 x16 slot, giving the new SZ170R8 the capability to become a pint-sized powerhouse gaming system.
The system is equipped for it with two DisplayPort and one HDMI port. There are plenty of USB connection, the network connection is handled through an Intel i219LM controller, and the audio by a Realtek ALC892 7.1 HD audio solution.
Shuttle’s SZ170R8 is also equipped with an 80 Plus Silver 500W power supply for energy efficiency and savings, as well as integrated heat pipe tech for stable, cool, and silent operation.
Shuttle has been in the Mini-PC business for a long time and they have found a good balance between upgradability and size with their XPC cubes. It continues Shuttle’s cube legacy and incorporates a latest internal design that accepts up to four 3.5″ hard disk drives as well as extra room for oversized PCI-E X16 cards.
The XPS R8 chassis is only a third of the size that a traditional tower PC occupies and it still comes with plenty of space for your hardware. You can also install up to four 3.5-inch hard disk drives or eight 2.5-inch with optional PHD3 adapter brackets.
The SZ170R8 is currently available for $449.99. It comes with a three-year limited warranty on parts and labor.
